Finished top

I finished the quilt top for my Saltbox quilt.  Here's a quick recap:

The inspiration quilt:
(Pattern  is "Come On-a My House" from "Miss Rosie's Farmhouse Favorites"
 by Carrie Nelson.)

My smaller version:

I liked it, but I liked it even better when I put some separation between the horizontal rows:

So, I decided to add sashing between the rows before adding the border.  I chose a quiet beige for the sashing and this rich deep cranberry print by Kim Diehl for the outer border.

A little bit of post Christmas sewing and I had the top all finished!
(The borders are not that wrinkled, the top has just outgrown my design board. )

I can't wait to get this one quilted and hung in my family room.

  2. That is really pretty. Sometimes making small changes to the original design - like the sashing - is just the perfect touch.

  5. Love it! The trees and stars help give space between the houses for a bit of elbow room. Those houses are darling too.

    1. Thank you. I seem to always gravitate toward any design with houses.
