Old photos

One  reason that I haven't been quilting/blogging  lately is that I have been spending  time helping my parents downsize their home.  They are preparing to move into a retirement community, and their new living space is smaller than what they have now, so there are lots of decisions to be made about what to keep and what not to keep.

In going through their items that were in storage, we came across some old photos.  We put them aside until the end of the day when we could sit together and look at them, trying to place names with the faces.

One picture surfaced that I was really pleased to find.  It shows my mom,  her grandmother and a little cousin sitting together on a QUILT!  I never knew that their was anyone else in my family that had quilted before me, and now I see that there was at least one.  I was so happy to find the photo, and yet the questions it raised about who made it were perplexing.  How I would love to know more about it.  I can't even really make out a pattern.

I'm going to have to frame this little photo, and put it in my sewing room.  What a fun piece of a puzzle that won't likely every be solved.

  2. Those old photos of family, how priceless they are. When I see them at auctions or in antique stores I just think how sad that no one wanted those photos. That is neat about the quilt.

  3. What a great photo. I love old photos. I went through a bunch my sister had from when she cleaned out my mom's house. Some of them were amazing.
