Ouch!

Was rotary cutting some fabric this afternoon, and managed to cut my finger.  I'll spare you all the details, but it involved a trip to the ER.   I'd like to point out that in 15 years of quilting, this is my first injury, but since it was  my pointer finger that was injured, I won't be doing any pointing right now.

  2. We've probably all had moments where something "almost" happened while using rotary blades. Sorry to hear about your accident. Hope you have a speedy recovery!

  3. Those rotary cutters are a deadly weapon! I have had minor run-ins with them (cutting off my fingernails) but live in fear of meeting them square-on like you did!! Maybe you can use this experience to come up with some safety accessories to use while rotary cutting and make a mint!!!
    Heal quickly!

  4. I have always said Quilting is a full contact Sport! Hubby came in the studio one day when I was sewing with a friend, he picked up my rotery cutter and rolled it over his hand asking is this sharp? answer: YES-evidences by the cut and blood. band-aid boy leaves my equiptment alone now. cw

  5. I am so afraid of those blades. When I change my blade I am so careful. This morning I ended up with two blades in the cutter, doesn't work well at all.Hope your finger heals quickly.

  7. Ughhh...not fun. Hope it heals quickly. My DH was trying to jinx me this weekend as I was sewing on my machine, asking if I was going to sew my finger. I told him, nope, haven't done that since I was a teenager. Take care.
